Years with condition1
Frequency of episodesContinuous

General healthPoor now, Before surgery-good health, no smoking, no drinking, exercised regularly, lifted weights, worked 12 hour days
Current stateVery weak, feel better last two months, cold all the time, except during a hot flash
PreventionsNothing seems to prevent it. Acupuncture works quite well to slow the heart rate to below 120 bpm. The acupuncturist has shown me how to needle myself to bring the heart rate down, but it will increase again over a period of time.
Current medications/side effectsMetropolol 100mg, Enalapril 5 mg, Asprin 81 mg, Digitek .25 mg, Warfarin 10 to 12.5 mg per day.
Past medications/side effectsCardizem, Potassium Chloride,Morphine, Nitroglycerine, Acetaminophen, Oxycodone Apap, Temazepam, Magnesium Hydroxide, Promethazine, Metoclopramide, [inj] Docusate Sodium, Amiodorone, Enoxaparin [inj] Pantoprazole, Prilosec, Macrobid, Zocor. A lot of medicines were given to me when I had the strokes, but I have no record of what they were. Gave myself lovenox injections twice a day for 3 months, [caused extensive bruising]
History of surgeryTumor removal, left knee.1990 Tooth pulled Oct. 2004, Valve replacement Jan.2005 Had ablation during valve surgery, also removed sections of atrium and left ventricle. Cardioversion did not work. Pacemaker was removed because the heart would not speed up during exercise; stayed at 50 beats a minute
Future plansKeep on living: Try to get some of my strength back. Would like to feel useful again.
Personal commentsWatch out for dentists!!!
