| Triggers | Alcohol hangovers ie day after,are the worse.Tiredness
lack of sleep or poor sleep ( drink,hangovers?!). Food,
I'm not sure what sometimes a sandwich and tea at work lunchtime, definately a largish meal in the evening. I
am interested to see if there is a correlation with
body functions,ie enzymes ect 'in digestion and the
'waking monster'.I can tell when AF is about to happen
as the feeling starts in the gut solar plexus area, sadly
I can never be sure how intense the AF will be.

| Preventions | Stay clear of Alcohol, very hard, I love a pint.Littler
meals more often,curiously no breakfast and a sandwich
at lunch triggered the worst AF yet. No chinese food.
Keep active.Good uninterupted sleep. No late meals or hotdrinks. Laying on the left side makes the heart sound
like its straining making sleep difficult |

| Current medications/side effects | 2x 160mg Propanolol(betablocker. Sluggishness, low self esteem.
1x50mg Profanothiouracil. For thyroid,no side effects
discernable but betab's have that covered!

| Future plans | Awaiting second ablation at Papworth hospital, listed
before christmas 2004.
Ablation worked for me until the Amioderone kicked off
the thyroid which in turn started the AF.The very thing
that was supposed to help, hindered.
To anyone prevaricating about cathater ablation I
recommend the procedure. Its blissful experiencing a drug free life in normal sinus rythm if only fot a short while.

| Personal comments | I was amazed by the similarities that we share with this
condition.My Gp looked askance when I mentioned food
being a trigger for instance. Its very hard describing
what its like to have this condition to someone other
a fellow sufferer. Until they pick you up off the floor
of course but even then, its even harder knowing that
your own ' non life threatening' monster can wake up at
any time. |
