Current state | Fine between episodes, can still play golf when in AF, but only just. |
---|
Triggers | Cold drinks, chocolate, caffeine, red wine, severe exercise(have quit squash),heavy meals, spicy food, I find that I can exercise hard on a treadmill as long as I increase my heart rate gradually and bring it back down slowly. |
---|
Preventions | Sometimes ignoring and contiuing with normal physical activities will restore normal sinus rhythm. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Sotalol low dose 80mg/day for past 5 months. Lower leg swelling initially but now insignificant. Resting pulse dropped from 40 to 36. No other side effects that I notice. Has not stopped attacks of AF (8 since starting Sotalol) but they may be less severe and none have lasted longer than 8 hours. Aspirin 325mg/day. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Atenolol, propranalol, felt like dog poop! |
---|
History of surgery | Cardioversion for first episode only. All others reverted normally. |
---|
Future plans | Have started full study of subject as episodes are getting more frequent. Am scared of stroke as I think I have experienced at least one TIA. |
