| Preventions | I've recently twigged on that I reckon I can attribute most, if not all of my bouts to dehydration so since my last bout I'm trying to drink at least one and a half/two litres of water a day. |

| Current medications/side effects | 100mg Flecainide twice daily
75mg dispersable Asprin daily.
No noticeable side affects. |

| Past medications/side effects | Sotalol 80mg twice daily for 8 years. Cold hands and feet. Slow heart rate.
Amiodorone for 4 months 200 mg twice daily. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole again but I didn't know any different when I was prescribed it. Side affects included shaking and rather unpleasant dreams.

| Future plans | I have an appointment with Dr Gill of Guys and St. Thomas's in London on 12th August with a view to ablation - Don't know if I'm ready for this yet. I might not even be a suitable candidate - I have lots of questions for him.

| Personal comments | Most bouts occur in the early hours of the morning for me anytime betwen 02:30 and 04:30. The transition between being asleep with a nice slow hearbeat and waking up seems to be where it all goes wrong. Can't seem to make up its mind whether to start beating quicker or not so starts throwing a wobbly. I have had a couple in the afternoon at rest after I have been doing some particularly manual work at home. As time goes by, I am learning to cope with it and not get so worried as I did at first and the bouts only stop on their own when I am half lying down on my left side. Most of the information I have found about this menace has been from the Internet and the Afib support group on Yahoo has been invaluable.
Having discounted alcohol and caffeine as a trigger, I am now embarking on the process that dehydration may be a cause and drinking plenty of water - so far so good, but I'm always aware that uncle Afib may just be lurking round the corner.
