Diagnosed conditionLone afib
Years with condition5
Frequency of episodesEvery 6 or so months
Duration of episodesAnything from 1 hour to 17 hours
Event preceding first AFPre-eclampsia during pregnancy. Came home from hospital after birth and experienced frequent ectopics. I believe that this was connected to my later diagnosis of afib.
General healthGood. Non smoker and since afib non drinker
Current stateAfib wise best I've been since diagnosed.
TriggersDehydration
Stress
Alcohol
Lack of sleep
PreventionsI have dramatically lessened the occurence of afib by drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. I used to just have 1/2 cup tea mornings and apart from a glass of milk, that was my total fluid intake. Prior to starting this I was experiencing afib every 5 days or so with durations of usually 12 to 17 hours. Since I have adopted this measure I have been free of it now for almost a year except for one episode 6 months ago when it went for 1 hour, the shortest time I've ever experienced.
Current medications/side effectsSotalol..No side effects.
Past medications/side effectsNone
History of surgeryNone
Future plansKeep drinking my water!!
