Diagnosed conditionafib, rheumatic mitral valve disease with regurgitation, plus other valves--mild
Years with condition8 months
Frequency of episodeschronic
Duration of episodessymptoms differ but afib always there
Event preceding first AFacute episode sent me to ER, but on hindsight i must have been having periodic episodes last couple of yrs---same symptoms I now have--onset of menopause @ that time--also MRI of shoulder--thought it was panic attack but I now know it must have been afib-
General healthgood health-never smoked-active
Current statevery symptomatic---sometimes really bad days-sit in chair all day---sometimes I can function a bit but never normal!
TriggersMRI 2 wks before diagnosed in ER
local surgery (5 months before diagnosis)---felt like I had the flu next day & lasted about 6 wks that I couldn't work---hind sight ---> afib!
Preventionssince diagnosis---chronic
Current medications/side effectscardizem
diazide
warfarin
vioxx (shoulder chronic pain)
CA & MG

Don't know if my symptoms are from a combination of drugs or just the afib/valve disease itself, or combo---symptoms are SOB on slightest exertion @ times, dizzy, lightheaded, legs and @ times whole body feels like the flu---aching, extremely weak, extreme fatigue, lack of concentration, like in a fog @ times
Past medications/side effectssotalol---very dizzy & lightheaded while on that----
dogoxin--HR down to 42, so it was discontinued
lasix
hydrochlorothiazide---Dr thought aching legs due to these diuretics & kept switching, but to no avail---still have aching legs, and weakness.
History of surgery2 ineffective cardioversions,
PVA 3 months ago---went back to chronic afib just a couple days after I got home
Future planssched for cardioversion next month
Personal commentsvery disappointed that the doctors can't tell me WHY i feel this bad---they even act like they have never seen anyone feel this bad---like I'm the first one! Very strange! So happpy to find you all here & know that I am NOT the only one! thanks!
