I have no noticeable problems with these medications except the ASA makes me have bruising and large
purple spots form trauma. I now take it every other day instead of daily and have less problem.
I sometimes forget my second dose of Tambacor at bedtime, but have not yet had a problem even then! |

| Past medications/side effects | I have been in the Emergency Room on three occasions due to my arrythemia problems.
The first time was diagnosed as SVT and treated with three (count them three!) IV boluses of Adenosine, converting
on the last one (only with the threat of Electrocardioversion hanging over my head) Adenosine is most unpleasent.
The next two times were dx'ed as AF and I was Digitalized and put on Coumadin for three months each time.
The first of these I was sent home and Fib'ed for five days with heart rates in the 160's. I converted on my own.
The second time I was started on Tambacor and converted with in a few hours of the first dose.
Digoxin is unpleasent and makes my heart pound. Caumadin is a danger because your blood will not clot so
you are at risk for severe bleeding from injuries. I curtailed my life considerably while on this so as not to risk
major injury (no sail boat racing, skiing etc.)
Since then I've had one minor episode that converted within one hour of taking Tambacor 200mg.

| Personal comments | I am so grateful that I can take these meds with relatively no side effects.
I still have irregular and skipped beats especilly if I don't take it on time but, basically, it doesn't effect my life on
day to day basis.
My concern is for the long term. Will the meds work forever? Will I tolerate them forever? Luckily, I have good
health insurance but I know that Tambacor is over $200 a bottle. Can I afford it the rest of my life?
My cardiologist thinks that treating this prob. with Digoxin and Coumadin in younger, otherwise healthy people
with no cardiac pathology is out of date. The trouble is....where ever you present with the problem, you have to
hope that the doctor who sees you knows the up-to-date treatment.
