Triggers | 50mg Atenolol per day following a positive isotope stress test slowed my heart rate to 34 beats, I felt fatigued and unable to exercise as normal. An EKG prior to an angiogram showed A-Fib had developed 4 weeks (or less)after starting Beta Blocker. |

Past medications/side effects | Atenolol (BB) See above (possible trigger) |

History of surgery | Angiography showed Coronary Artery Disease - two vessel disease (LAD & LCx) Treat with medication. |

Future plans | Diagnosed as probably having sick sinus and AV node disease and with time may be prone to more symptomatic bradycardias.
Not for any antiarrhythmic (heart rate too slow ... now 44)
No role for internal defibrillation nor biphasic defibrillator |
---|
Personal comments | 18 Oct 2001 :I have encouraged my GP to reduce Norvasc (from 10mg initially to 5mg) because of posssible adverse effect on sick sinus and arrhythmias.
