| Personal comments | My cardiologist has explained a-fib as an interruption of the hearts electrical sequence. He is unsure as to why it occurs and has used several different medications that were not successful at controlling my heart rhythm's. After four years of different meds and AICD shocks that are no fun at all, he hospitalized me and started me on Amioderone; At first, it didn't stop my a-fib and he subsequently tried using external paddles to convert me. When that didn't work he was very perplexed and talked of the possibility of performing an ablation to the node in the heart that controls the electrical impulses. I checked my-self out of the hospital and took my wife to Hawaii two days later as we were scheduled to go to Lanai' on a trip with our church. I converted to normal sinus-rhythm the first night there and i have stayed that way since. |
