Diagnosed conditionA-Fib/A-Flutter....Anxiety Disorder (Panic attacks)
Years with condition15
Frequency of episodesComes and goes but causes lots of anxiety
Duration of episodesNot hours and hours in A-Fib, just minutes of coming and going
Event preceding first AFNot really anything that I can associate with, had irregular heartbeats as a teen and the older I got and my anxiety disorder together made me pretty miserable.
General healthGood....just had ablation so still recuperating from that 6 hr. procedure. Ex social smoker and do have a touch of asthma, need to lose about 40 pounds and I'm sure I would feel better.
TriggersWell, this is Sunday and I just had a 6 hour ablation on Thursday so still feeling a bit rough. It is the 5th of December and I am wondering why I had this done so close to the holidays but it's done and I am going to think positively! I do have an anxiety disorder that is not at all helpful when it comes to A-Fib but try relaxation tapes to alleviate my stress. No alcohol or smoking at this point in my life but as a younger woman would drink and smoke socially and did feel awful after a night of doing both=-) Anxious to hear all about others' experiences on here and what has helped them....vitamins, faith, etc.
Current medications/side effectsCoumadin....Sotolol....Altace....Xanax....Lexapro
History of surgery2 ablations....one in 2008 and 2nd one 3 days ago, so 2010
Personal commentsJust interested in others with A-Fib/Flutter and wondering if anxiety disorder is common among A-fibbers. Ready to live a life without thinking what is going to happen. This sounds pathetic and I am not like that....normally a fun person but do feel like a portion of my life has been affected by both conditions. I am married to a great guy for 32 years and have 2 children....a 26 year old boy with autism and a 23 year old daughter. They are both great kids. I am close to my 2 sisters and 1 brother so my life has been full of blessings.
