Not enough sleep.
PreventionsMagnesium Glycinate helps
No ALCOHOL or caffeine
Stay well hydrated
Plenty of sleep!
Current medications/side effectsCoumadin (getting off in a month) COLD all the time!

Flecaninide- 100mg 2x a day

Metoprol- 25mg 2x a day
Past medications/side effects2012- tried Tikosyn after ablation but I couldn't tolerate it.
-------
2009-2010 Acupuncture- smooths the problem, hasn't cured it. I feel much better afterwords but just for a day.
--------
2007- Coumadin, 2.5 mg daily- slight dizziness & feeling cold/ freezing all the time. Bleeding of course. One episode of urinating blood for 4 days! No reason found. Very scary.

Multaq (Dronedarone)- At first (2 weeks) I felt tons better, still irregular beat but smoother. Side effects- occasional diarrhea (nothing else). Co-pay is pricey.
------
2002- Flecainide (Tambocor)- at times I couldn't ride a bike. My lungs would freeze up and I'd have to stop and rest a while, start-off real slowly to get home. Didn't fix the A-FIB either.
History of surgery
2012-
1) Ablation (w/ a hematoma side effect, very bad pain, very slow to recover from +5 weeks!) Tried Tikosyn, couldn't tolerate it.
2) Cardioversion- w/ +10 second gap of no heart beat)
3) Pacemaker to stimulate the SA nerve that had gone to sleep after 10 yrs of A-fib. (Don't let it go long!!)
-------
Cardioversion Sept. 2009- lasted less than a minute in sinus mode

7mm Kidney stone blasted with ultra sound Nov. 2009 (not the reason for the blood in urine) I'm sure the kidney stone came from the use of coumadine. It leaches calcium out of the system.

Cardioversion, max jewels of 360, Dec. 2009- only lasted a minute
Future plans2012- Let the ablation do it's thing and it is! Hoping that the pacemaker can come out after a year or so if the SA nerve comes back on line. They are giving me hope!

-------
2009- Not sure. Wishing for more alternatives. I DON'T want to be on drugs!

Considering ablation (fallowed by acupuncture0 but my surgeon says I have less than a 20-30% chance ablation will work in my case.

Personal comments2012- It's been a long couple of months but I'm very hopeful at this point! A word to the wise~ do something about your A-fid rather than putting it off, which makes it much harder to deal with.
---
2009- Very disappointed about my condition mainly because I don't ever want to be on any drugs.
