TriggersHad gall bladder removed in March 2002. Once it was removed a persistant rumble in my chest was gone and the incidence of afib went from three to five times a week to one or two times a month. Since the operation, I will go into AF if I do not warm up carefully before exercise, but the AF stops as soon as stop exercising.
PreventionsPreviously found I had spasms in the early morning which would often trigger AF. Learned that increasing my salt intake and taking a few salt pills before sleeping prevents this.

Previous trigger was yawning.

Learned if that exercise of an adaquate level for at least three out of ever four day will prevent AF. Have been AF free for 13 months.

Past medications/side effectsCoumadin - After taking coumadin for two weeks I had a rash over a third of my body, and dizziness to the point I had to stop taking it.

Had pacemaker installed in september of 2001 for Bradycardia. My rest heart rate is in the mid forties in the day and goes ito the thirties while I sleep. It is asymptomatic. After I had my gall bladder removed I found that the active tracking of heart rate by the pacemaker was causing contention with my natural heart rhythm when my heart rate was slowing after exercise. Had my cardiologist turn off this function and the contention is gone. I still experience contention if I exercise where my heart rate is approximately at the base rate set in the pacemaker. I believe it is causing more problems I might not have without it.
History of surgeryPacemaker in September of 2001
Laparoscopic gall bladder removal in March 2002
Future plansAt some point I will experiment with dropping the exercise routine and see if the AF returns.
Personal comments
I have not been very happy with any of the cardiologist I have seen and I believe that the AF symptom I have is the result of a condition other than whatever they seem to want to treat me for.
