| Preventions | Have terminated a couple of episodes with exercise and recently have terminated overnight A/F episodes immediately on getting in the shower in the morning.In the main I am just watching my diet and trying not to eat large meals especially in the evening.Have found that soaking in a bath containing epsom salt crystals has, for the moment,increased the time between A/F episodes. |

| Current medications/side effects | Verapamil, 3 times a day. Makes me feel lethargic and for the first few weeks caused constipation.

| Past medications/side effects | Flecainide, propafenone and sotalol.First two increased frequency of A/F episodes and sotalol, whilst making episodes less frequent took my heart rate down to less than 50bpm. |

| Future plans | I have been put on the waiting list for a PVI procedure at the Cardio Thoracic Centre Liverpool.Update, have just been given a date of early November
Update, now 8 months after PVI and so far no more A/F. Would hesitate to say I am cured in case I tempted the "beast" back but have been in NSR since the procedure and have just had occasional "missed" beats. |

| Personal comments | Like most A/F sufferers it took me a couple of months to come to terms with the condition but I am now learning to live with it, although, when in A/F,I can't do anything energetic, hence my going down the PVI route.If this doesn't work the next step is going to be ablate and pace with the down side of staying on meds for life.
Update, now off all meds since the PVI and I cant praise Dr.Waktari at the Liverpool CTCL ENOUGH. |
