NameSarah D
LocationReading UK
Age29
Diagnosed conditionatypical complex tachycardia
Years with condition1.8
Frequency of episodesevery 1-2 weeks
Duration of episodesfrom a few minutes to hours
Event preceding first AFstress
General healthheavy smoker, drink occasionally
Current stateon medication and managing the problem
TriggersLack of sleep, caffeine and alcohol. Also if I am unwell, e.g. a cold.
PreventionsTake medication. Also burn aromatherapy oils everyday, ylang ylang slows down heart rate. Don't rush around so much anymore, take things a bit easier.
Current medications/side effectsI take sotalol twice a day and if I am having an episode I take two flecanaide. No real side effects with the sotalol but taking the flecanaide really slows me down. I cant do much after that.
Past medications/side effectsFlecanaide every day at first, then changed to sotalol.
History of surgeryNone.
Future plansWanted to have an ablation but the specialist won't operate. I have multiple new cells that are firing and he says he cant get them all and it would take too long.
Will carry on with the medication and wait for medical science to come up with a new treatment.
Finish my degree this year!!!!
Personal commentsI don't really think about my condition too much, just get on with enjoying life. The only worry is if I pass out and I am on my own with my two children.
